Frequently Asked Questions
  • Do you charge for the first meeting?[+]

No, the first meeting is complimentary and is an opportunity for both parties to meet and evaluate the scope of work, review insite antiques & design 's portfolio, and discuss compensation.
  • What should I ask at the first meeting?[+]

•Ask to see the insite antiques & design's portfolio.

•Ask what size projects insite antiques & design has worked on, where, and what the budget range was.

•Ask how the established budget will be handled, and the kind of payment schedules the designer requires.

•Ask about the types of service insite antiques & design can provide.

•Ask for a list of references.
  • What happens at the first meeting?[+]

Our initial consultation brings insite antiques & design's owner, Ina Nouel, to your home or office for an in-depth interview to identify your design objectives and outline the steps needed to accomplish them. This first meeting usually lasts 30-45 minutes.

At the first meeting Ina will:

•Measure and photograph areas to be designed.

•Create a room by room list of necessary construction, furniture, colors and accessory needs.

•Compile client's existing materials that will not change.
  • How do you work with clients?[+]

Every interior designer works differently. We are happy to work with you as a consultant and you can either use us for the entire process, or simply for consulting and advice, allowing you to make your own purchases.
  • Do you work with any particular style(s)?[+]

We work with many different styles and prefer to help each client create their own signature style. Although styles vary, the common thread through all our projects is a clean, uncluttered look.
  • Why do I need an interior designer if I already have an Architect?[+]

Architects and interior designer work very differently. Most architects work with structure and building design and prefer not to work with details of interiors, such as kitchen and bath design, custom cabinetry and built-ins, color schemes, flooring specifications, and wall and window treatments.

Designers can create a master plan for the interior of your entire home or office, which can be implemented in stages, as your budget allows.

The ideal design team consists of both an architect and an interior designer in order to cover all aspects of your internal and external spaces.
  • How do you charge for your services?[+]

•Our Cost-Plus option is one where as the client makes purchases assisted by insite antiques & design. They are then charged for the purchase, plus an additional percentage over the cost of the product.

    •Our
Hourly Fee option is one where as the client works with insite antiques & design, a flat hourly rate is charged while working on the varied services and project requirements. This option is especially helpful when working with more confined budgetary needs or where the client merely requires assistance with shopping or purchasing decisions.

    During your initial consultation,
insite antiques & design will gladly assist you in deciding which option is most cost effective for your project.
  • Why do you have an hourly fee and a mark-up on the product?[+]

The design fee is for interior concepts, solutions to the problems, and advice on any purchases. When a product is ordered through insite antiques & design, there is a great deal of time spent on producing purchase orders, ordering cuttings of fabrics, and wall-coverings from current stock for approval.

Additionally, time is spent on coordinating deliveries and generally ensuring that the whole process runs smoothly until the item is delivered to the client. The mark-up covers this entire process and assures the clients’ peace of mind.
  • What are the next steps after hiring an interior designer?[+]

Once you have made the decision to hire insite antiques & design, the following steps usually take place:

•Letter of agreement: A contract is signed between
insite antiques & design and the client stating what is to be completed and the fee schedule.

    •Completion of work by contractors.

•Carpet, furniture delivery, drapery installations, etc.

    •Accessories added with approvals.
